| Desc | PHS's greening program has been a noted force in urban revitalization since 1974 and serves as a national model for transforming communities through horticulture. Together we create beautiful, healthy and sustainable communities. We engage urban gardeners and entrepreneurial growers at 140 gardens to make fresh nutritious produce available for neighbors in need. We've trained 2,224 Garden Tenders and 797 educators to start community gardens and school greening projects as well as build the community and networks needed for sustained stewardship. We clean, green and maintain over 12,000 lots across the City, turning blighted lots into neighborhood assets. Through training and networking, we've helped over 73 people find meaningful employment when returning to the community after incarceration. We've trained 4,397 Tree Tenders to plant and take care of trees. Together with our partners, we've planted over 505,000 trees in the region.
