| Explanation | The Society follows the provisions of ASC 740-10, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes. Income tax benefits are recognized for income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the income tax position will more-likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The Society has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and all state jurisdictions where it operates. The Society believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on the Society's financial position, results of activities, or cash flows. Accordingly, the Society has not recorded any reserves, or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at September 30, 2014. | Statement about strategic growth | The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is a community of people - designers, industry representatives, educators and students - committed to interior design. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, we strive to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people's lives. More than 25,000 members engage in a variety of professional programs and activities through a network of 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. ASID is making strategic investments in staff and market research to develop programs to expand its reach - and to diversify its revenue base. The organization's participation in the Clinton Global Initiative is just one example of the result of the investments made to date. Other examples include our newly launched program Design to Lead and the Impact Summit. ASID has also made strategic investments into its ICON magazine and its website infrastructure. Form 990, Part III, line 2 ASID is a participant in the Clinton global initiative. ASID is leading the collaborations of organizations to develop a set of protocols around health and wellness, resilient spaces, and sustainability. |
