DescriptionThe Karen Lehman Complex in the Technion Computer Engineering Center and the Karen Lehman Floor in the Emerson Family Life Sciences building: Launched in 2011, the Technion Computer Engineering (TCE) Center is combining technological support from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with theoretical support from the Faculty of Computer Science. Its vision is to become a leading research center in applied areas of computer engineering, and to serve as an open meeting and collaboration center for academia and high-tech industry. By providing a novel collaboration venue that will drive research and innovation, the TCE will exploit the Technions strengths in computer science and electrical engineering to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Among the Centers many activities are an annual international conference, ongoing industry interactions, numerous workshops, talks, seminars and colloquia, and visits by faculty members from around the world. The Lehman Complex will encompass two floors in the Fischbach Building. The Systems Research Floor will provide space to expand this type of synergic research that combines software and hardware, and to accommodate more faculty members. Activities may include projects in operating systems, networking, distributed systems, programming languages and mobile sensor networks. The AcademiaIndustry Cooperation Floor will provide office space for faculty members and industry affiliates, as well as open meeting space. Progress in biomedical sciences depends on close cooperation between life scientists, exact scientists and engineers. The Emerson Family Life Sciences Building is bringing these diverse RESEARCHERS TOGETHER-PROVIDING THE LABORATORY SPACE and administrative structure in which resources can be shared and ideas exchanged. Occupying two floors in the Emerson Building, the Laboratory Complex for New Technion Faculty will provide temporary lab space, enabling new faculty recruits to begin their research as soon as they arrive on campus. It will also serve current faculty members whose labs are being upgraded. The Lehman Floor will house four large labs equipped with standard, state-of-the-art research infrastructure and essential tools.Description

DescriptionThe Nancy and Stephen Grand Technion Energy Program: The solution to the energy crisis is threefold: conservation, developing renewable energy sources, and improving the efficiency of buildings and combustion technologies. Energy research at the Technion falls into the following four major program areas: alternative fuels; energy storage and conversion; renewable energy sources; and energy conservation. The Grand Technion Energy Program brings together leading science and engineering researchers to discover and exploit alternative and renewable energy sources, locate and develop non-carbon-based fuels, seek solutions for more efficient energy use, and reduce the environmental damage caused by the production and burning of fossil fuels.Description

FIN 48Part X, LIne 2The society follows guidance that clarifies the accounting for uncertainty in tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, including issues relating to financial statement recognition and measurement. This standard provides that the tax effects from an uncertain tax position can be recognized in the financial statements only if the position is "more-likely-than-not" to be sustained if the position were to be challenged by a taxing authority. the standard also privdes guidance on measurement, classification, interest and penalties, and disclosure and had no material impact on the accompanying financial statements. The society has determined that there are no material uncertain tax positions that require recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. the tax years ended 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 are still open to audit for both federal and state purposes. the society has processes presently in place to ensure the maintenance of its tax-exempt status; to identify and report unrelated income; to determine its filing and tax obligations in jurisdictions for which it has nexus; and to identify and evaluate other matters that may be considered tax positions.
