| Part X, Line 2: | The Internal Revenue Service has determined that AMU, the College, AMFA, and the Land Trust are exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the University and recognize a tax liability if the University has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the IRS or other applicable taxing authority. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the University and has concluded that as of June 30, 2013 and 20112, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability or disclosure in the financial statements.
