| Description | Truancy Project - Pilot project that operated at Neal Middle School through March 2012. Students are assessed by a contracted licensed clinical social worker to determine what, if any, compromising conditions exist in their home, school, or community that require intervention and appropriate community-based services. Students receive referrals for counseling, programming services such as course recovery, after school tutoring, life skills training, one-on-one mentoring and work readiness sessions. Though the Project was viable, the school failed to make proper use of what was offered, so only one student received services during the 2012 fiscal year. | Description |

| Description | Durham Gang Initiative - An intervention program that uses a street outreach worker model to identify and engage youth involved in gangs, utilizing referrals from Project B.U.I.L.D. and other criminal justice agencies. The initiative also provides tutorial services to students who reside in the Bull's Eye area and attend Y.E. Smith Elementary School. DARYC has contracted with several area agencies through this initiative, including P.R.O.U.D.
