THESE INITIATIVES CAN BE SUMMARIZED AS FOLLOWS:CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE INITIATIVE: THE DCC OPENED A TOTAL OF 25 SEPARATE INVESTIGATIONS THIS YEAR OF WHICH 10 HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY FOR INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION. THE REST REMAIN UNDER INVESTIGATION OR HAVE BEEN CLOSED.CIVIL NUISANCE ABATEMENT INITIATIVE: THE DCC FILED FIVE CIVIL SUITS ON BEHALF OF HOMEOWNERS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS TARGETING THE OWNERS OF BLIGHTED PROPERTIES.RAPE KIT INITIATIVE: THE DCC IS COLLABORATING WITH THE WAYNE COUNTY MICHIGAN PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TO FUND THE TESTING OF OVER 11,000 BACKLOGGED RAPE KITS. THESE KITS WERE COLLECTED AS EVIDENCE IN SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATIONS AND HAVE NOT BEEN PROCESSED.SAFEGUARD INITIATIVE: THE DCC PROVIDED FUNDING TO HOUSE VIOLENT CRIME WITNESSES ON BEHALF OF THE WAYNE COUNTY MICHIGAN PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE.DETROIT EASTERN DISTRICT INITIATIVE: THE DCC AUTHORED AND RECEIVED A $1,000,000 BYRNE CRIMINAL JUSTICE INNOVATION GRANT TO COMBAT VIOLENT CRIME ON THE DETROIT'S EAST SIDE.
