ORDINARILY, FAMILIES OF SICK CHILDREN, OFTEN BURDENED BY MEDICAL BILLS, WOULD SLEEP IN HOSPITAL LOBBIES, WAITING ROOMS OR IN THEIR CARS AND INCUR THE HIGH COSTS OF EATING MEALS IN RESTAURANTS. RMHD LESSENS THE BURDEN THROUGH THE PROVISION OF TEMPORARY, CONVENIENT, SUBSIDIZED HOUSING AND OTHER ASSISTANCE FOR CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. RMHD PROVIDES A PRIVATE BEDROOM, A DINING ROOM, KITCHEN, LAUNDRY FACILITIES, AND RECREATIONAL AREAS. RMHD IS OPEN 365 DAYS A YEAR, 24 HOURS A DAY, AND, IN 2012, RMHD ASSISTED 827 FAMILIES; 10,856 GUESTS. SUCH ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED TO ANY INDIVIDUAL AND/OR FAMILY UPON REQUEST. THE CAMP IS STAFFED MOSTLY BY CARING MEN AND WOMEN WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME TO MAKE THE CHILDREN'S EXPERIENCE AN ENJOYABLE ONE.
