| Description | IN FY 2012, THE RODEL CHARITABLE FOUNDATION OF DELAWARE INVESTED IN A RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT IN DELAWARE. OUR EFFORTS FALL INTO THREE AREAS: THE IMPROVEMENT OF PUBLIC POLICY TO ACCELERATE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT; SHARING BEST PRACTICES FROM AROUND THE NATION AND THE WORLD WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CHARTER SCHOOLS IN DELAWARE; AND THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE PUBLIC ON BEHALF OF BETTER SCHOOLS. WE DIRECTED OUR FINANCIAL AND STAFF SUPPORT TO MANY AREAS IN FY12, INCLUDING: (1) IMPLEMENTATION OF NUMEROUS RACE TO THE TOP INITIATIVES BEING IMPLEMENTED AT THE STATE, DISTRICT AND SCHOOL LEVELS, INCLUDING WORLD-CLASS TEACHER AND PRINCIPAL PREPARATION PROGRAMS; (2) THE REPOSITIONING OF THE VISION NETWORK TO ENHANCE ITS EFFECTIVENESS IN HELPING PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS CREATE STRONG SCHOOL CULTURES AND LEARNING ENVIROMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS; (3) EXPANDING THE PRESENCE OF TEACH FOR AMERICA IN DELAWARE--ASSISTING IT IN ESTABLISHING ITS DELAWARE OFFICES AND EXPANDING ITS CORPS OF TEACHERS TO 47, LOCATED AT 13 SITES ACROSS THE CITY OF WILMINGTON--AND SUPPORTING THE LAUNCH OF THE DELAWARE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR ASPIRING PRINCIPALS TO SERVE HIGH-NEED SCHOOLS. | Description |
