| Description | ANNUAL CONFERENCE: 300 PEOPLE FROM THE PUBLIC MEDIA WORLD ASSEMBLED IN HOUSTON JUNE 12-16 FOR THE 37TH ANNUAL NFCB COMMUNITY RADIO CONFERENCE. THERE WERE 4 PRE-CONFERENCE INTENSIVES (TRAINING THE TRAINERS, NEW STATIONS ON THE AIR--NOW WHAT?, BRINGING IN THE BIG BUCKS, READY-SET-ENGAGE: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT). THE KEYNOTE SPEECH WAS DELIVERED BY KAY SPRINKEL GRACE ON THE TOPIC: DARE TO DREAM. OVER 40 BREAKOUT SESSIONS WERE HELD COVERING ISSUES OF GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE, DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAMMING, PRODUCTION, OPERATIONS, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, AND MANAGEMENT. EACH OF 5 COHORTS (RURAL, URBAN, AFRICAN AMERICAN, LATINO, AND NATIVE AMERICAN) MET WITH NFCB PRESIDENT & CEO MAXIE JACKSON TO DISCUSS THEIR CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES.
