| Explanation | The Chamber is generally exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. Under current Internal Revenue Services (IRS) regulations, advertising revenue earned on the publications and other unrelated income is subject to income tax. There was no income tax expense for the years ended September 30, 2025 and 2024. The affiliate, SC Chamber Education and Workforce Development Foundation is exempt from federal income taxes under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. South Carolina Chamber PAC is a political organization under Section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code and is exempt from federal and state income taxes except for unrelated business income. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the Chamber and its affiliates and has concluded that, as of September 30, 2025 and 2024, there are no uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the financial statements. The Chamber and its affiliates are subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.
