Under the guidance of an executive chef and operated by the MD Food Bank, the program has two primary purposes: - Teach hands-on culinary training and comprehensive job-readiness skills to prepare students for job search and placement. - Utilize rescued and donated food to prepare quality frozen meals which are distributed to the MD Food Bank's network partners. These meals help to preserve the shelf-life of nutrient-rich foods that might otherwise be wasted. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach helps senior citizens apply for government food assistance benefits. Maryland Food Bank SNAP Outreach workers provide intensive, step-by-step support - completing applications, gathering supporting documentation, personally submitting materials to the Department of Social Service and tracking the status of applications to ensure timely processing.
