Tax positions are not offset or aggregated with other positions. Tax positions that meet the "more likely than not" recognition threshold are measured as the largest amount of tax benefit that is more than 50 percent likely to be realized on settlement with the applicable taxing authority. There were no uncertain tax benefits identified and recorded as a liability at May 31, 2011 and 2010. Forms 990 and 990-T filed by the University are subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) up to three years from the extended due date of each return. Forms 990 filed by the University for fiscal years ended May 31, 2006 and prior are no longer subject to examination. The University has not to date been required to file Form 990-T. |

| Explanation | The Vice President for Finance collects grant award letters and instructions from the granting agencies or the BCU grant managers. The Vice President for Finance keeps a fiscal file for each grant, including the award letters, instructions, annual accounting records, and financial reports submitted to the grantors.
