| Explanation | The Council has adopted the FASB standards regarding uncertain tax positions which requires evaluation of the impact of uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken on a tax return. In some instances, the council may be required to recognize a liability related to those tax positions. In evaluating the Council's tax provisions and accruals, interpretations and tax planning strategies are considered. At June 30, 2011, the Council had no uncertain tax positions requiring recognition in the financial statements. The Council's income tax filings prior to 2008 are no longer subject to audit by the federal and state taxing authorities. Interest and penalties incurred, if any, when filing income tax returns are recognized in the Statement of Activities. | Explanation |
