| THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS PERFORMS AN ANNUAL PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL FOR THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (ED). AT THE TIME OF THE APPRAISAL COST OF LIVING (COL)/MERIT INCREASE IS DETERMINED AND THE % AMOUNT IS SENT DIRECTLY TO THE ACCOUNTANT FOR ANY WAGE INCREASE. AT THE TIME OF PREPARATION OF THE ANNUAL BUDGET THE ED AND ACCOUNTANT STUDY CURRENT COL COMPENSATION AMOUNTS AND INCLUDE THAT INFORMATION AS PART OF THE PROPOSED BUDGET PACKAGE. DISCUSSION THEN TAKES PLACE AT THE FINANCE COMMITTEE REGARDING THIS MATTER. UPON THE COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATION FOR THE BUDGET TO MOVE FORWARD, THE BUDGET IS THEN SUBMITTED TO THE OVERALL BOARD FOR DISCUSSION AND APPROVAL. FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BASE COL INCREASE AS WELL AS THE APPROVAL OF THE RANGE FOR MERIT INCREASES FOR THE BUDGET YEAR (CALENDAR YEAR), THE IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR OF A STAFF PERSON DETERMINES AND SUBMITS THE % INCREASE TO THE ED BASED UPON THE EMPLOYEES ANNUAL WRITTEN PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL. THE ED, AFTER REVIEW (IF NOT ALREADY PART OF THE EVALUATION PROCESS), THEN FORWARDS THAT AMOUNT ONTO THE ACCOUNTANT AT THE TIME THE EMPLOYEE IS ELIGIBLE FOR THEIR INCREASE (TYPICALLY AN EMPLOYEES ANNIVERSARY DATE). ADDITIONALLY, THE AGENCY ALSO RECENTLY REVIEWED STAFF SALARIES IN COMPARISON TO OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS FOUND IN THE NAM 2008 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS COMPENSATION SURVEY.
