Description	UNITED WAY'S WORK IS GUIDED BY ITS COMMUNITY IMPACT PLANT. THIS OUTCOMES-BASED MODEL FOCUSES NOT JUST ON NUMBERS CURRENTLY BEING SERVED, BUT ALSO ON MEASURING LONG-TERM CHANGE IN THREE KEY AREAS: MEETING BASIC NEEDS, NURTURING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, AND PROMOTING HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE. IN A SNAPSHOT, CONSIDER THAT 21% OF THE POPULATION LIVES BELOW THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL, 35% OF 4TH GRADERS ARE NOT READING PROFICIENT, AND THE COUNTY RANKS LAST IN THE STATE FOR HEALTH. WHILE THE NEED IN WYANDOTTE COUNTY IS SIGNIFICANT, THE INVESTMENT PLAN ENABLES THE ORGANIZATION TO FOCUS ITS FUNDING AND TRACK COMMUNITY INDICATORS/BENCHMARKS THAT SIGNIFY WHETHER THE PROGRAMS ARE IMPACTFUL AND WHETHER LIVES ARE CHANGED AS A RESULT OF THE THEM. MEETING BASIC NEEDS ADDRESSES IMMEDIATE AND ONGOING NEEDS TO IMPROVE THE STABILITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF RESIDENTS IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE A COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT SYSTEM THAT PROMOTES ECONOMIC STABILITY AND A REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF CYCLIC EMERGENCY ASSISTANT USERS. NURTURING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SEEKS TO PROVIDE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WITH ACCESS TO THE TOOLS NEEDED TO THRIVE THAT WILL RESULT IN INCREASING THE EDUCATIONAL ACHIVEMENTS OF ALL RESIDENTS. PROMOTING HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE PROMOTES COMMUNITY SERVICES THAT SUPPORT THE PHYCIAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING OF RESIDENTS WITH A FOCUS ON INCREASING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT DEMONSTRATE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. THE COMMUNITY IMPACT PLAN HELPS TO PRIORITIZE FUND DISTRIBUTION TO 53 PROGRAMS AT 29 PARTNER AGENCIES AND ENSURES THAT FUNDED PROGRAMS ARE MEETING UNITED WAY'S LONG TERM COMMUNITY CHANGE OUTCOMES. IN ADDITION TO ALLOCATIONS FUNDING, UNITED WAY INVESTS RESOURCES (TIME AND DOLLARS) TO OTHER COMMUNITY INITIATIVES THAT ADDRESS CIRITICAL NEEDS NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY THE CURRENT SOCIAL SERVICE COMMUNITY. Pt VI-B, Line 10b	The United Way of Wyandotte County, Inc prepared its 2009 return according
	to the IRS instructions and the United Way of America guidance concerning membership
	requirement A. Officers and Key Staff prepare all related schedules and reports
	and forward them to the independent auditing firm for review and preparation of the
	final draft of the return. The final draft of the return is reviewed in
	detail by the Finance Committee then distributed to the Board of Directors
	for review and comment prior to filing the return. Board may submit
	questions or comments to staff or to the audit firm partner for 10 days
	after distribution. Staff and tax preparer will respond to
	questions and comments in writing to the entire Board prior
	to filing the final return.
Pt VI-B, Line 15	The United Way of Wyandotte County, Inc. has a personnel
	committee which reviews the compensation structure of the
	organization on a periodic basis. This last occured at the
	Personnell Committee meeting held June 5, 2007. The Committee
	uses a variety of tools to evaluate salary information including
	the United Way of America periodic Human Capital Study and a local
	independent study conducted periodically by the Midwest Center
	for Non-Profit Leadership. This Committee is also responsible
	to approve any changes in salary for the President/CEO of
	the organization. All other salary changes are approved by the
	President/CEO within the confines of a Board approved Budget.
Pt VI-B, Line 12c	The United Way of Wyandotte County, Inc requires that the Board
	of Directors complete and sign a disclosure annually at the
	Board meeting immediately following the annual meeting.
Pt VI-C, Line 19	The United Way of Wyandotte County, Inc posts its most recent
	audited financial statements and IRS Form 990
	on our website. Past 990's are available on the public
	website Guidestar or upon request. Other governing documents,
	our conflict of interest statement, and prior audited financial
	statements are available upon request.

	member of this Corporation for the year which the contribution
	is made.
