ExplanationWhen disbursing a donation/award, WEF provides a letter stating the nature of funding and stipulations as to the use of funds which are to be followed by the awardee. WEF stays in contact with the award recipient to ensure that the funds are used for the intended purposes. Once a scholarship recipient has been named, WEF verifies with the school that the student is enrolled for the fall semester, then again verifies the enrollment prior to sending the check to the school. If the student fails to attend, the refund of tuition (scholarship) paid by WEF is refunded to WEF. A new recipient is chosen each year, thus this process has to be repeated each year. The scholarship is paid directly to the school to cover tuition costs. If scholarship exceeds tuition costs, the student has option to receive the remaining scholarship funds as a taxable distribution.ExplanationTxt
