| Description | OREGON HOSPICE ASSOCIATION (OHA) IS A STATE-WIDE NON-PROFIT MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES HIGH QUALITY HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE TO OREGONIANS AS THEY APPROACH THE END OF LIFE. OHA'S FIRST RESPONSIBILITY IS TO THE PUBLIC. IN ADDITION TO PUBLIC INFORMATION, REFERRAL, AND ADVOCACY, OHA PROVIDES EDUCATION, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND ACCREDITATION SERVICES TO 52 OPERATING AND DEVELOPING HOSPICE PROGRAMS WITH OVER 75 LOCATIONS ACROSS THE STATE WHO PROVIDE DIRECT CARE TO TERMINALLY ILL OREGONIANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. OHA'S 2010 EDUCATIONAL EVENTS WERE ATTENDED BY OVER 600 HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS. OHA PARTICIPATED IN MEDIA EVENTS, PUBLIC EDUCATION, INDUSTRY FORA, AND COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY EDUCATION ABOUT END OF LIFE CARE. ADDITIONALLY, OHA PROVIDED CONSULTATION AND SUPPORT TO OREGONIANS WITH QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ABOUT END OF LIFE ISSUES. OHA'S CHILDREN'S GRIEF SUPPORT PROGRAM, ME, TOO, PROVIDED SUPPORT TO OVER 60 CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. OHA RANKS IN THE TOP FIVE STATES IN THE NATION FOR THE USE OF HOSPICE CARE AND PATIENT DEATHS AT HOME. OHA IS A MEMBER OF THE STATE-WIDE PHYSICIAN ORDER FOR LIFE-SUSTAINING TREATMENT (POLST) TASKFORCE. THE POLST TASKFORCE WORKS TO ENSURE OREGONIANS END OF LIFE WISHES ARE MET THROUGH USE OF A WRITTEN PHYSICIAN ORDER. | Description |
