(GWF)is to support the operations of Goodwill Industries of Dallas, Inc.(GWD) which it accomplishes through periodic grants. In prior years, GWF hosted a golf tournament to raise funds and made grants to GWD which were used for the Workforce Development Group. The Workforce Development Group within GWD provides assessment, remedial education, skills training, job training and placement of individuals with vocational barriers. In 2015, GWF did not make a grant to GWD due to the transition from GWF hosting a golf tournament to GWD hosting "The Lunch". GWF incurs the fundraising expenses related to this event. Grants to GWD began again in 2016. |

Income generated from activities unrelated to the Organizations exempt purposes is subject to tax under IRC Section 511. The Organization did not have a material unrelated business income tax liability as of December 31, 2016. Therefore, no tax provision or liability has been reported in the accompanying combined financial statements. GAAP requires the evaluation of tax positions taken in the course of preparing the Organizations tax returns and recognition of a tax liability (or asset) if the Organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the IRS.
