| Description | New York Needs You (NYNY) aims to provide exposure to a wide variety of careers, access to professional networks, preparation to secure and succeed in internships and jobs, and motivation to complete college for high-achieving, low-income, first-generation college students in New York and New Jersey. To achieve these objectives, NYNY leverages the time and talents of young professionals in an innovative, volunteer-driven model. At 28 Saturday workshops spanning two years, 250 first-generation college students (Fellows) work one-on-one with their dedicated young professional mentors (Mentor Coaches) for approximately six hours. Fellows also receive a professional development grant ($2,500 over two years), professional attire, and are required to complete two internships during the program.Our students have had the following extraordinary outcomes:100% of our community college Fellows transferred to a four-year school 94% completed summer internships98% of our alumni who have graduated from college are employed, enrolled in graduate school or participating in an internship Program alumni have higher starting salaries than peers, with an average starting offer of $52,000 | Description |
