Description	70,784 of the 85,525 people that registered to donote blood made a successful donation, on which, staff performed 1,002,546 infectious disease tests to ensure a safe blood supply. Because of multiple products being produced from certain donations, 93,373 units of red blood cell, platelets or plasma were transfused at 16 local hospitals and occasional shipments out of region. 44,833 units of plasma were shipped for further manufacture for pharmaceutical purposes. 354 letters were mailed and 487 phone calls were made to donors regarding specific test results that may affect there health. 48,274 preliminary screening tests were performed for diabetes which identified 2,410 donors who had elevated glucose levels of 140 or over. Description	Blood Bank of Delmarva serves over 1.3 million people on the Delmarva Penninsula. There are 161,702 families enrolled as members. 2,058 local employers sponsor group membership plans. 10,148 high school and college students volunteered to give blood at 125 blood drives held at 78 schools. To recruit new members and blood donors 31,304 pieces of mail were sent, a summer e-newsletter was sent to 6,188 individuals weekly for 17 weeks and a school program e-newsletter was sent to 255 individuals monthly for 8 months. 149,651 notices were mailed and 503,951 phone calls were made to recruit blood donors. Description	Blood Bank of Delmarva provided support to the local Community: Hospitals invoices were discounted to reflect each of the hospital's uncollectable bad debts. Donations were made to food banks in Delaware and Maryland. Management participated in blood banking organizations and Rotary clubs. Staff supported charitable activities including United Way, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and Ronald McDonald House. 58 training sessions were conducted for 900 participants which included staff and employees of local hospitals. SchD_P10_S00_L00	Schedule D, Part X	The Organization has adopted the provisions of FASB Interpretation No. 48 (FASB ASC 740-10-50), Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes. Management continually evaluates uncertain tax positions and expiring statutes of limitations, audits, proposed settlements, changes in tax law and new authoritative rulings, as applicable. Management's evaluation is that there is no income tax liability. This evaluation is based on settled and established positions within the Internal Revenue Code and management believes there is no significant uncertainty related to its evaluation. The Organization's policy is to expense all interest and penalties as incurred, if any. No amounts of interest or penalties were recognized by the Organization during the year ended September 30, 2010. No tax years prior to 2007 remain subject to examination by federal jurisdictions.

A draft of the 990 is provided to the Audit Committee for review. At a meeting of the Audit Committee, management presents the 990 document in detail. After discussion, the Audit Committee instructs management to make any necessary changes. All members of the Executive Board receive a copy of the 990. The Executive Board instructs management to file the 990 in final format.
F990_P06_S0B_L12c	Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c	If a board member has a conflict of interest with any issue presented at a meeting of the Executive Board, the board member discloses such conflict and must recuse themselves from voting on that issue. There has never been any reason to enforce compliance with the policy.
F990_P06_S0B_L15	Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15	CEO - The Executive Board has assigned the Compensation Committee the responsibility of recommending the compensation and bonus of the CEO. Annually, a CEO compensation survey prepared by America's Blood Centers is provided to the Compensation Committee. The compensation survey information sorted is by position responsibilities, organization size and length of service for CEOs of blood banks throughout the country. The Executive Board reviews the recommendation of the Compensation Committee and establishes the CEO compensation and bonus by majority vote. Other highly compensated employees - Salary range and annual increase guidelines are established by the organization's review of market survey data. The compensation and bonus for highly compensated employees are established by the CEO.
